Robert (Rob) Freymuller, CEO of Summerlin Hospital Medical Center, will be honored as the Southern Nevada Administrator of the Year by Nevada Business Magazine during a special awards ceremony on September 12, 2019.

Freymuller, who has worked in healthcare for more than 30 years, has led Summerlin Hospital since 2008. He is a fierce advocate for patients and has several intertwined, ongoing professional goals: to provide the best care possible to those within the hospital; to build a strong workforce; and to work closely with legislators and other healthcare leaders to ensure Southern Nevada has a plan to provide the necessary healthcare resources, now and in the future.

“Our community continues to grow and we are continually adding or expanding services to meet its needs,” said Freymuller. “We currently care for over 100,000 patients each year through emergency, inpatient and outpatient services, and every person deserves a positive experience and touchpoints with our team.”

Chief highlights during Freymuller's tenure to date include expanding the hospital from 285 to 485 beds, with expansions in maternity, oncology and pediatrics; and working with his team to earn specialty certifications for stroke, chest pain and acute rehabilitation care. A father of three, children’s care is close to Freymuller's heart, and he has worked closely with area pediatricians and specialists to expand the Children’s Medical Center at Summerlin Hospital, develop a separate pediatric cancer unit, and launch a pediatric stem cell transfusion program. Local sports teams, entertainers and other non-profits treat patients and their families to many special events, visits, and arts-in-medicine experiences throughout their hospital stay.

Providing immediate access to primary care physicians remains a key priority, and Freymuller recently welcomed the Las Vegas Medical Group – Summerlin to the hospital campus to provide family medicine and internal medicine services on an appointment and same-day services basis. “As a husband, father and healthcare executive, faster access to care is important to me," said Freymuller. "Whether it’s a respiratory emergency that our pediatric ER can handle or a medical situation where someone just doesn’t feel right and visits their doctor, I want every physician on our campus to immediately address the situation for a better outcome.”

In addition to his ongoing responsibilities as CEO including overseeing strategic planning, business development, physician relations, regulatory issues, financial management and overall operations of the flagship hospital of The Valley Health System, Freymuller also volunteers his expertise and service to multiple non-profit organizations. He is currently an executive committee and board member of the Nevada Hospital Association, and serves as a board member of both the UNLV School of Nursing Advisory Board and the Las Ventanas Senior Living community. He also dedicated several years to serving on the board and as the walk chair for the American Heart Association.

Along with his heavy work and volunteer schedule, Freymuller's focus and attention on his family is always a top priority. Married with three children spanning various ages and stages, his role encompasses everything from a cheering Little League fan to a dedicated attendee at dance recitals to providing counsel on everything from car maintenance needs to personal finance considerations for his oldest. “I love it,” said Rob. “I’m blessed beyond belief with my family, my career and those whose lives I can touch, if only from a remote distance.”
