Summerlin Hospital Medical Center welcomes everyone, regardless of background or ability, to submit an application to join our Adult Volunteer Program. Adult volunteers contribute in many ways at our facility, providing therapeutic and emotional care and friendly support to patients and their families. To qualify for the Adult Volunteer Program, applicants must meet following requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Be in good health
- Able to communicate well in English
- Willing to purchase a $25 volunteer shirt
Volunteers must commit to at least a 4-hour shift per week. Volunteers may work a maximum of 2 shifts per week for a total of 8 hours. A 6-month commitment is requested.
How to Apply
On the application you can indicate your work preference and area of interest. Once a position becomes available in your requested field, a Volunteer Services recruiter will call you to schedule an interview. During the interview, the recruiter will get to know your personality, and if accepted, they will determine your placement and work schedule. We will also conduct a background check at no cost to you.
Volunteer Services hosts a 2-hour orientation class which all accepted applicants must attend. At the completion of your interview, the recruiter will provide you the dates and times of upcoming classes.
A PPD Test determines whether or not you have tuberculosis (TB), a serious infection that spreads through the air. The Employee Health Office will administer the test to volunteers free of charge.
During flu season (as decided by the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention), volunteers must receive a flu shot prior to their first day of work. Please provide proof of the flu shot to the hospital. Ask your Volunteer Services recruiter about free flu vaccines provided by Summerlin Hospital.
