Summerlin Hospital Medical Center, in partnership with Comprehensive Cancer Centers of Nevada, now offers patients a new tool in their fight against cancer. The CyberKnife® Robotic Radiosurgery System is a noninvasive alternative to surgery for treatment of both cancerous and benign tumors anywhere in the body.
By delivering high doses of radiation with extreme accuracy to precise locations inside the body, the CyberKnife Robotic Radiosurgery System gives doctors at Summerlin Hospital Medical Center a new option to treat tumors that were once considered medically inoperable, as well as treat patients who are ineligible for surgery or chemotherapy.
Because it is a noninvasive procedure, CyberKnife stereotactic radiosurgery can be an excellent alternative for treating tumors of the brain, spine, head, neck, kidney and prostate.
The CyberKnife Robotic Radiosurgery System is the only noninvasive robotic radio system designed to treat tumors anywhere in the body. Through continuous image guidance and computer controlled robotic mobility, the CyberKnife system automatically tracks, detects and corrects for tumor and patient movement throughout the procedure. That allows doctors to work with pinpoint precision, minimizing damage to surrounding healthy tissue and eliminating the need for invasive head or body stabilization frames.
